I went to the US yesterday and got some M&M coffee flavor. I totally love it. The coffee flavor does not over power the chocolate and of course, I love the peanuts inside. I then remember that I saw a tutorial a while ago, of how to sew a candy wrapper pouch. It is the same way you would sew a regular pouch, with lining or not.
I use an iron on vinyl to make it more durable. I think I got it from Hobby Lobby store. For some reason JoAnn store does not have it. May be they have it in a larger JoAnn.
The only thing to watch is that there is no do over. It is a plastic and everytime you sew, it will leave a sewing mark (holes). I don’t use linings on mine so it is rathet easy to make.
I had this cute zipper that I got a while ago in different colors and they are just perfect for pouches. It has a ring pull. I did not use the M&M coffee wrapper but I use the Christmas wrapper on one side and the Halloween one on the other side. It is so much fun to make a to look at and I would make some more for myself.
I need a pouch to hold my markers and I made some today. It has been quite some time when I made one of these so I have to watch a tutorial on youtube. Here they are: The fabric above … Continue reading →
Since I have so many quilts, it is quite a challenge to store them. I have an antique cedar chest, but it is just not big enough. I would also like to see my quilts and use them. The best way to display the quilts is probably the quilt ladder but they can be quite pricey as they are mostly custom made. They can run up to $100 per ladder. Some are using recycle woods.
It is actually quite easy to make a quilt ladder. The ladder just need to be strong enough to hold the quilts. Of course it is not for our use so ne careful when you have children.
I did some drawings and went to home depot. You can may any size you like, whatever fit with your room. I take the easy way and buy a cut wood, which I believe is 48 inches in length. Then I bought some smaller ones and asked one of the guys to cut it. Since we don’t want to waste any woods, I divided the wood into 4 equal length.
I purchased a sample paint for less than $5 and it is enough to do two coats. I have it tinted with Ethereal Mood from Behr. You can also stain the wood to give it a rustic look but since we live in a condo and do not have a garage, I decided it would be less efforts to paint than to stain. After the staining process, there is an extra step to seal the stain as we don’t want the stain to bleed onto our beautiful quilts.
I am very happy with the final product and was thinking of making another slimmer, smaller ladder to hold my scarfs during winter.
We finally have the time to take this quilt for the photo session at the park. We went out on the weekend and were passing Stratford, Ontario. This was taken at Shakespeare Park. Too bad that there were no flowers at all. Usually this park will be filled with Tulips around this time of the year. But the weather was kind of unpredictable lately. Many of the flowers did not even get a chance to bloom.
Don’t you just love the quilt? It is my favorite now. But of course I say it to all my new quilts. 🙂
This quilt is made using the Morning Glory Pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew. It is so much fun to make and I just love the pattern. I actually finished the quilt top like two years ago and never had the time to quilt it. I quilt it with the old fashion meandering line. I though about a straight line quilting but it will be such a pain to finish. I like the meandering line. I used my home sewing machine and after finishing so many quilts, it is not so bad at all. Practice makes perfect and my quilt is getting larger and larger. The key is the basting. Be generous with the pins so it doesn’t move.
For the back I kind of use what I already have and don’t even remember whose design is the fabric. But it has a light color with white background. I found that the back of thequilt is as important as the front. Nice fabrics makes me happier.
The binding is a nice bluish color to marry the back fabrics. I have not washed it yet because I am thinking of taking it to another photo shoot outside. Stay tune for more photos.
